ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College divers had another successful day on Saturday at the NCAA Regional, hosted by RIT.
Women
After both qualifying for the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on the 3-meter board yesterday, both
Anna Belson and
Jocelyn Pawcio both finished in the top fourth on the 1-meter.
Belson, a graduate student, completed the sweep of the boards, winning the 1-meter with a score of 485.70 after winning the 3-meter yesterday afternoon. This comes on the heels of her sweep of the board at the 2019 Liberty League Swimming and Diving Championship last weekend.
Belson's high-scoring dive of the day was in the seventh round with a forward two and one-half somersault tuck, which scored 54.00.
Pawcio, a sophomore, who took third yesterday on the 3-meter, finished fourth on the 1-meter board with 423.55 total points. After qualifying yesterday, this will the first time she heads to the NCAA Championships.
Pawcio had two near-50 point dives on the day. The first, a back one and one-half somersault, one and one-half twist was in the sixth round and scored 48.75 points. Her highest-scoring dive of the day was in the ninth round. The back one and one-half somersault pike scored a 49.45.
Men
Sophomore
Justin Moczynski qualified for NCAA Championships for the first time in his career on South Hill.
Moczynski finished in sixth place on the 3-meter board with a total score of 478.45 after taking ninth during the first day of competition.
Moczynski recorded his best two dives in the sixth and seventh rounds. In the sixth round, he hit a back two and one-half somersault pike for a huge score of 60 points. He followed that up with seventh-round reverse two and one-half somersault pike for a score of 52.50. He rounded out the day with a back one and one-half somersaults, two and one-half twists for a score of 50.40.
The NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships are set to take place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina March 20-23.
