Hoffman-Smith Wins Three As Women's Swimming and Diving Takes Down RPI

TROY, N.Y.
– The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team defeated RPI, 190-110 on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Bombers opened up the day with a win in the 200 medley relay. The team of Jane Pfeufer, Ashley Warren, Jesse Ford and Paige Landers finished with a time of 1:54.73, to edge the second-place RPI team which raced to a time of 1:55.03.
 
IC's team of Julia Young, Jenna Molnar, Emily Vandersleen and Margaret Fox took third place with a time of 1:56.52.
 
Junior Morgan Hoffman-Smith led the way in the 1,000 freestyle, winning easily with a time of 10:57.78. Josephine Holman came in second with a time of 11:19.26 while Emily Shorb finished third in 11:24.32.
 
Hoffman-Smith followed that up with another win in the 200 freestyle, claiming the top spot in 2:01.92. Ford was the second-place finisher with a time of 2:02.78 while Allison Branch took third in 2:05.20.
 
The Bombers finished second through fourth in the 100 backstroke, led by Pfeufer who took second in 1:00.09. RPI's Megan Beaulieu was the winner in 59.93.
 
First-year Katie Krom took third place in 1:02.33 and Young finished fourth with a time of 1:03.74. Anna Rubino rounded out IC swimmers with a sixth-place finish of 1:05.84.
 
In the 100 breaststroke, Warren was the top finisher for the Bombers with a time of 1:12.35, coming in behind RPI's Kat Lopez who won in 1:11.18.
 
Molnar took fourth place in 1:16.67 while Angelina Domena finished fifth with a time of 1:17.09.
 
The Bombers were victorious in the 200 butterfly as sophomore Olivia Schlackman won with a time of 2:18.73. Kaitlyn Scott was not far behind in second place with a time of 2:19.92. Tori Eastham took fourth place in 2:22.87 while Cody Conte raced to a time of 2:35.07 for sixth.
 
Vandersleen, a first-year, won the field in the 50 freestyle, racing to a time of 25.35. Landers took third place with a time of 25.80 while Fox finished in fifth place with a time of 26.96.
 
Pfeufer won her first individual race of the day in the 100 freestyle, taking the top spot with a time of 54.96. Landers took fourth with a time of 57.45 while Anna Rubino finished fifth in 58.21.
 
In the 200 backstroke, Krom was victorious, winning the field in 2:17.54 while Young took second with a time of 2:20.03.
 
Warren was the top IC finisher in the 200 breaststroke, racing to a time of 2:35.03. RPI's Lopez was the winner with a time of 2:34.51. Molnar finished fifth-place with a time of 2:40.71.
 
Hoffman-Smith continued her successful day, winning the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:25.14. Holman took second place in 5:32.35 while Conte raced to a time of 5:37.95 for fourth place.
 
In the 100 butterfly, Vandersleen was the top finisher for the Bombers, taking second in 1:01.47. RPI's Beaulieu narrowly edged her to take first in 1:01.36. Ford finished in third place with a time of 1:02.13 while Scott took fourth with a time of 1:04.99 and Schlackman raced to a time of 1:05.31 for fifth place.
 
The Bombers finished in the top two spots in the 200 IM, led by Molnar's win with a time of 2:21.98. Schlackman came in second place, finishing in 2:23.60 while Warren finished in fourth place with a time of 2:26.95.
 
Ithaca wrapped up the swimming portion of the day with a win in the 400 freestyle relay.
 
The team of Pfeufer, Krom, Hoffman-Smith and Vandersleen raced to a time of 3:42.82, nearly six seconds faster than the second place team.
 
IC's group of Rubino, Fox, Ford and Landers took third place with a time of 3:52.50.
 
In diving action, the Bombers finished second, third, fourth and sixth in the 1-meter dive. First-year Eliana Wallock was the top finisher for IC, taking second with 224.20 points. RPI's Jessica Kugelman was the victor with a score of 258.70.
 
Rachel Lange took third place with a score of 219.05 while Karalyn Pawcio finished fourth with a score of 193.00 and Ava Lowell took sixth with 172.70 points.
 
Wallock was also the top finisher in the 3-meter dive, finishing second with a score of 258.10. Kugelman was once again the winner with 279.45 points.
 
Lowell came in third place with a score of 252.40 while Lange finished fourth, scoring 228.00 points. Pawcio rounded out Ithaca's divers with a fifth-place, 218.55 performance.
 
The Bombers are back in action next weekend when they host Cortland on Saturday, November 2 at 1 p.m.
