RESULTS
FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team opened its season on Saturday afternoon with a meet against SUNY Fredonia, Brockport and Buffalo State.

Ithaca won every swimming event, both individual event, as well as one of the two diving events.
Â
Several Bombers picked up multiple wins on the day, headlined by first-year
Jesse Ford, who won the 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 500 freestyle.

Sophomore
Morgan Hoffman-Smith won the 1,000 freestyle and 100 backstroke while
Jaclyn Pecze took the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly and
Genny Tripler won the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.

The Bombers started off the day strong, finishing in the top two spots of the 200 medley relay.

The team of Hoffman-Smith,
Ashley Warren, Pecze and Tripler won the field by more than five seconds, racing to a time of 1:53.85.

Teammates
Rachel Smertz,
Gabrielle Humphrey, Ford and
Angelina Domena were not far behind, coming in second place with a time of 1:58.88.

Hoffman-Smith followed the relay success up with a win in the first individual race of the day, the 1,000 freestyle. The sophomore finished in 10:49.39, ahead of second-place McKayla Polowy of Fredonia, who finished in 11:26.59.

Maura Beuttel also finished in the top five in the 1,000 freestyle, taking fourth place in 11:48.80.

Ford won her first individual race of her college career in the 200 freestyle after swimming to a time of 2:00.79, more than four seconds faster than second place. The Bombers also took third and fourth place in the 200 free as Domena finished third in 2:04.92 and Smertz came in fourth in 2:07.30.

Ithaca swept the top three spots in the 50 backstroke, with Pecze taking first in 30.19.
Tori Eastham came in second with a time of 31.35 and
Emma Whitney finished third in 31.73.

In the 50 breaststroke, Warren took first with a time of 33.37. IC also took third, fourth and fifth places to round out the top five.
Hannah Parbst raced to a time of 34.54 for third place while Humphrey came in fourth in 34.60 and
Casey Koenig finished fifth with a time of 35.16.

Ford won her second race of the day in the 100 butterfly as the Bombers swept the top four spots. Ford raced to a time of 1:01.11 to win the field while
Alex Estanislau finished second in 1:04.48.
Emilee Murray followed in third with a time of 1:04.59 and
Olivia Schlackman came in fourth in 1:04.90.

Tripler won her first race of the day in the 50 freestyle, coming in first with a time of 25.45. Sophomore
Caroline Bissaillon finish in third after racing to a time of 26.53.

Tripler then followed that up with a win in the 100 freestyle, racing to a time of 55.97 for the top spot. Bissaillon also finished in the top five, coming in fifth place in 58.43.

Hoffman-Smith claimed her second race of the day in the 100 backstroke, winning the field with a time of 1:01.70. The Bombers also swept places three through five, starting with Smertz in third with a time of 1:05.86. Eastham finished in fourth with a time of 1:08.09 while Whitney was fourth with a time of 1:09.10.

The Bombers continued to dominate, taking the top four spots in the 100 breaststroke.

Parbst claimed the victory after swimming to a time of 1:13.99, followed by first-year
Karolina Baranowski, who took second in 1:15.19. Humphrey came in third with a time of 1:15.29 while
Josie Michaels was fourth with a time of 1:16.23.

Ford closed out the individual portion of her first collegiate race with her third victory in the 500 freestyle. She raced to a time of 5:28.96 to claim the top spot, while Schlackman came in third with a time of 5:39.98. Beuttel also finished within the top five, coming in fourth with a time of 5:45.36.

Pecze raced to a time of 27.55 to win the 50 butterfly. The Bombers also finished second and third, with Murray coming in second in 28.72 and Estanislau taking third in 28.87.

In the final individual race of the day, the 100 IM, Domena was victorious after swimming to a time of 1:05.55. Tripler finished fourth in 1:07.60 while first-year
Alyssa Greaney rounded out the top five with a time of 1:08.10.

The Bombers closed out a successful first meet with a win in the 200 freestyle relay. Smertz, Bissaillon, Pecze and Hoffman-Smith raced to a time of 1:43.00 to win the field.

Ithaca's top finisher in the one meter dive was
Anna Belson, who came in third with a score of 212.00.
Jocelyn Pawcio finished in fourth place with a score of 205.20 while
Ava Lowell took fifth with 193.55 points.
Malia Farrar rounded out IC's divers in sixth with a score of 180.95.

Belson followed that up with a win in the three meter dive, racking up 274.10 points. Pawcio finished in third with a score of 215.45 while Farrar came in fifth with a score of 163.90 and Lowell came in sixth with a score of 159.90.

Ithaca is back in action next Saturday, October 27 when RPI comes to South Hill for a 2 p.m. meet in the A&E Aquatics Pavilion.
