DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference announced its 2017 Hall of Fame class, and former Director of Athletics at Ithaca College, Robert "Bob" C. Deming, will be one of nine individuals and one team inducted on Friday, April 28 at the Matrix Conference & Banquet Center in Danbury, Conn.
Deming, a 1992 inductee into the Ithaca College Hall of Fame, served as Director of Athletics on South Hill from 1980-1997. During that time, which put Ithaca on the map as a perennial power, the Bombers won nine of the school's 15 team national championships and a total of 19 individual national titles from 15 student-athletes were claimed.
He also served as a member on several NCAA committees, including the chair of the Division III Football Committee for three years, and a president of the ECAC. Deming graduated from Colgate University in 1957 and earned a master's degree from the University of Houston.
Established in 2015, the ECAC Hall of Fame, recognizes former student-athletes, coaches, administrators, teams, officials, and support staff for outstanding achievements, service, dedication, commitment, and contributions to ECAC. The ECAC Hall of Fame selection committee, comprised of representatives from a variety of different ECAC constituency groups, meets annually to determine the year's induction class.
Jack Ford will serve as this year's master of ceremonies. Ford currently serves on the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame Board of Directors. As a veteran news correspondent for CBS & ABC, Ford has been associated with 20/20, Good Morning America and has also served as moderator of ESPN's The Sports Reporters. Throughout his career, Ford has received two Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, an American Radio and Television Award, and a National Headliner Award.
