TROY, N.Y. – The No. 19 Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team kept its perfect record intact on Saturday afternoon when it returned to the pool for the first time in 2017. IC swept the five duals at the 2017 Henry Kumpf Invitational, hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. The Bombers dominated in their five victories, which included a 132.00-to-111.00 triumph over the 25
th-ranked Engineers, improving to 13-0 on the year.

The Ithaca women had three individuals and their 400-yard medley relay team earning top marks on the afternoon. Additionally, 16 other swimmers and divers marked Top-5 finishes at the event.
Senior sprinter
Lake Duffy took home first place in two events, winning both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events. She burned the field with a 24.73 in the 50 free and a 53.96 in the 100 free. Duffy added to her excellent day by pairing with
Grace Ayer, Sam Reilly and Jackie Pecze to take first in the 400 medley relay.
Classmate
Grace Ayer was Ithaca's other swimmer to score a top time on the afternoon. She placed first with a 2:10.22 in the 200-yard individual medley, while also playing a part on the 400 medley relay. Ayer also posted a runner-up finish with a time of 2:08.95 in the 200-yard backstroke.
The Bombers other two individual first-place honors came in the diving well, as senior
Nickie Griesemer swept both the one-meter and three-meter spring boards. She paced the field with 272.90 in the one-meter and a 308.75 in the three-meter.
Staying in the diving well,
Katie Helly finished as runner-up to Griesemer in both the one-meter and three-meter spring boards, posting scores of 249.00 and 264.70, respectively. Junior
Lindsey Suddaby added a fourth-place mark in the one-meter spring with a score of 236.45, while fellow junior
Alyssa Wishart also marked a fourth-place finish in the three-meter with a 243.65.
Finishing behind Duffy in the freestyle sprints, Genny Tripler posted a 25.79 to end in third in the 50 free.
Erin Hackett marked fourth-place finishes in both the 50 and 100 freestyle races, marking times of 26.05 and 56.63, respectively.
IC posted two Top-5 finishes in the 200 free.
Nilza Costa swam fourth in 2:05.15, while
Miranda Wingfield marked a fifth-place showing in 2:05.44.
Brenna Dowd showed well in the longer freestyle events. She marked runner-up finishes in both the 500 and 1000-yard races, posting times of 5:26.77 and 11:08.66, respectively. Staying in the 1000,
Hannah Parbst swam third behind Dowd with a time of 11:18.20, while
Cat Tompkins took fourth in 11:19.53. In the 500, Costa also marked a third-place finish with a time of 5:29.96. Tompkins added a sixth-place swim.
Ithaca swept third-through-fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke. Parbst was IC's top time of 2:32.23, while
Ashley Warren went fourth in 2:32.60. Sam Reilly rounded out the group in 2:32.78. She also posted a Top-5 time in the 200 individual medley, where she swam fifth in 2:15.23.
Rounding out the day was the 200 butterfly event, in which the Bombers swam second-through-fourth.
Emily Altchiler finished in the runner-up postion with a time of 2:17.90. Cassie Papalleo took third in 2:20.23, while
Kelsey Jepsen ended up in fourth in 2:20.86.
Ithaca returns to action on Saturday, January 21, when it welcomes Alfred University for a dual meet at the Athletics & Events Center. Start time for the meet is slated for 1:00 p.m. The Bombers will host the Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational at 10:00 a.m. the following morning.
