ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team ran its winning streak to five on Tuesday evening as the Bombers grounded the William Smith Herons, 189-48, inside the A&E Center Aquatics Pavilion. The win moved Ithaca's record to 5-0 while William Smith suffered its first loss of the season and is now 3-1.
The Bombers picked up 22 points in all after winning both the 200 medley relay and the 200 free relay. In the medley,
Justine Wantz,
Samantha Reilly,
Josie Berman and
Genevieve Tripler took first overall with a winning time of 1:53.66 before
Cassie Papaleo, Tripler,
Jaclyn Pecze and
Emily Altchiler finished first of five in the 200 free relay after touching the wall in 1:44.79.
Ithaca took the top three spots in the 1000 free with
Brenna Dowd taking the top spot by more nearly 30 seconds in 11:18.20.Â
Hannah Parbst finished in the runner-up spot (11:44.11) and
Sara Yagan took third place with a time of 12:51.88.
In the 200 free, Pecze would finish second in 2:06.60 while Victoria Eastham and
Cat Tompkins finished in third and fourth place, respectively.Â
Senior
Grace Ayer won the 50 free and nine points with a winning time of 25.56 and would later claim the top time in the 100 backstroke by more than four seconds in 1:00.59.
Altchiler contributed a win in the 400 IM after completing the race in 4:50.94 and
Casey Koenig followed suit in the 100 butterfly with a winning time of 1:03.36.
Reilly won the 100 free with a mark of 56.64 and teammate
Ashley Warren finished in second place at 57.85. Warren would later add a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke at 1:11.12.
Ithaca took the top two spots in the 500 free with
Miranda Wingfield collecting the win after finishing with a time of 5:33.19. Eastham touched the wall in second place at 5:50.31.
In the deep end of the pool,
Lindsey Suddaby nabbed a win and tallied an NCAA A cut score of 265.70 on the 1-meter board.Â
Nickie Griesemer narrowly missed an A cut score (265.00) and finished in second with 264.55 points and
Alyssa Wishart was third with 242.55 points.
On the 3-meter board, Griesemer placed first with 247.15 points. Suddaby finished second overall with 234.75 points and
Katie Helly earned a third place showing with 216.00 points.
Ithaca will look to make it six wins in a row at 6 p.m. on Friday when it hosts LeMoyne College at the A&E Center Aquatics Pavilion.Â
