CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving remained unbeaten on Saturday as the Bombers defeated SUNY Cortland, 217.5 – 82.5, at Harriet Holsten Pool. With the win, Ithaca, which won all 16 events, improved to 4-0 overall while Cortland fell to 0-2 on the young season.
Ithaca began the day with a win in the 400 medley relay as
Justine Wantz,
Samantha Reilly,
Grace Ayer and
Lake Duffy beat the field by more than 11 seconds with a winning time of 4:05.28. Ithaca also finished second in the same event as
Jaclyn Pecze,
Ashley Warren,
Alex Estanislau and
Cassie Papaleo completed the race in 4:16.81.
The Bombers would take the top two spots in the 1000 free as well with
Hannah Parbst finishing first out of six competitors with a mark of 11:17.06.Â
Nilza Costa was runner-up after touching the wall in 11:19.19. Parbst would also win the 200 breaststroke by over four seconds with a mark of 2:38.11.Â
Casey Koenig finished second after touching the wall in 2:42.33.
In the 200 free, Duffy placed first in 2:01.36 and would later place second in the 100 free (56.13).
Reilly won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:03.04 and later the 200 backstroke (2:17.03) while Warren posted a time of 1:11.03, which was good for a first place finish in the 100 breaststroke.
Emily Altchiler posted a top finish in the 200 fly with a winning time of 2:16.56 and the 200 IM (2:19.36) before the Bombers took the top two spots in the 50 free with
Genevieve Tripler finishing first (25.88) and Pecze finishing close behind in second place (25.92).
Ayer continued her dominance in the 100 free after beating the field by nearly a second with a winning time of 55.63. Wantz finished third overall behind Ayer and Duffy with a time of 58.17. Ayer would also take first in the 100 fly after posting a time of 1:01.27.
In the 500 free,
Brenna Dowd and Catherine Tompkins finished first and second, respectively. Dowd's mark of 5:31.17 was over three seconds ahead of the pack.
Ithaca capped the swimming portion of the meet with a win in the 200 free relay after completing the race in 1:42.42.
In the diving portion of the meet, Ithaca posted the top three spots in the 1-meter with
Alyssa Wishart pacing the field with 246.90 points.Â
Lindsey Suddaby and
Katie Helly finished second and third, respectively.
On the 3-meter board, Suddaby's 260.40 points took first place overall while Helly claimed second place with 257.10.
Ithaca will look to make it five wins in a row at 7 p.m. on Tuesday when it hosts William Smith inside the A&E Center Aquatics Pavilion. Â Â
