HERSHEY, Pa. – Former Ithaca College wrestler Jason Bovenzi was inducted Thursday into the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Wrestling Hall of Fame as part of the national championship weekend festivities in Hershey, Pa. The induction ceremony was held at the Hershey Lodge.

Bovenzi wrestled one season for Ithaca College as a graduate student and had one of the most successful single seasons ever turned in by a Bomber wrestler. He won the 190-pound national championship in the 1994-95 season with a perfect 26-0 record.

Bovenzi spent the majority of his career at St. Lawrence University where he earned All-American honors as a sophomore with a third-place finish at 190 pounds. As a junior, he won the national championship at 190 pounds in the 1992-93 season. His career record was 101-16-1, and he is currently an assistant coach at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Former coach and current director of athletics at North Central College (Illinois) and former Trenton State (The College of New Jersey) wrestler Mike Jacoutot were inducted along with Bovenzi.

Also during the ceremony, Ithaca was recognized as an NWCA All-Academic Team with a 3.27 team grade-point average. The award is presented to the top-30 academic teams in Division III wrestling. Ithaca head coach
Marty Nichols was recognized for achieving the 200-win milestone in his career during the 2014-15 season. Nichols earned his 200th career dual-meet victory Dec. 10, 2014 in a 37-7 victory over RIT.
