Women's Varsity 8, Third Varsity 8 & Novice 8 Winners in Massachusetts

The varsity 8 is 7-2 on the year
Worcester, Mass. - The women's crew competed Saturday in a regatta at Lake Quinsigamond in Massachusetts. Ithaca won the varsity 8, third varsity 8 and novice 8 races.
 
The varsity 8 (7-2), ranked fifth nationally, crossed the line with a time of 6:47.2 to edge out Division I Holy Cross (6:48.6). The Bombers also finished well ahead of eighth-ranked Tufts (7:03.5), 13th-ranked Colby (7:15.3) and Connecticut College (7:16.6).
 
The third varsity 8 (7:20) also picked up a win Saturday, defeating Holy Cross (7:28.3), Tufts (7:37.7) and Colby (7:52.3) by open water.
 
The novice 8 (7:33.5) won for the second straight weekend, defeating Tufts (7:40.1), Holy Cross (7:44.9) and Connecticut College (8:03.9).
 
Ithaca returns to Massachusetts next weekend to take on Bates, Coast Guard, Marist and Williams.
 
      The varsity 8 was made up of sophomore coxswain Stephanie McKay (Langley/Great Falls, Va.), junior stroke Kelsey Schaeffer (Ithaca/Ithaca),.), junior seventh seat Danielle Llopiz (Mast Academy/Miami, Fla.), junior sixth seat Katie O’Driscoll (Quincy/Cohasset, Mass.), freshman fifth seat Lauren LaPointe (Lowell/Lowell, Mass.), sophomore fourth seat Stephanie Levesque (St. Paul Catholic/Bristol, Conn.), freshman third seat Amy Gefell (Greece Arcadia/Rochester), senior second seat Kristin Morris (Bow/Bow, N.H.) and senior bow Candace Eastman (Oneonta/Oneonta).
 
      The second varsity 8 was made up senior coxswain Nicole Valentino (Academy of the Holy Angels/Wood Ridge, N.J.), junior stroke Alden Hall (Stratford Academy/Macon, Ga.), sophomore seventh seat Julie Potter (Arlington/Poughkeepsie), senior sixth seat Kady Wysocki (Greenport/Orient), sophomore fifth seat Kathryn Irwin (Annapolis/Annapolis, Md.), junior fourth seat Alex Chesney (Hancock Central/Hancock, Mich.), junior third seat Diana Glicini (Dallas/Dallas, Pa.), sophomore second seat Erica Gordon (Irvington/Irvington), and sophomore bow Aliyah Emas (Northeast/Philadelphia, Pa.).
 
      The third varsity 8 was made up of sophomore coxswain Kaitlin Ahl (Shaker/Latham), senior stroke Sara Cleary (Upper Dublin/Ambler, Pa.), junior seventh seat Anthea Barnett (John S. Davidson Fine Arts/Augusta, Ga.), junior sixth seat Sarah Veninsky (Marathon/Richford), sophomore fifth seat Katherine Irwin (Annapolis/Annapolis, Md.), sophomore fourth seat Erica Gordon (Irvington/Irvington), sophomore third seat Allison Creland (Brighton/Rochester), junior second seat Maggie Fisk (Gallia Academy/Rio Grande, Ohio) and sophomore first seat Vivian Fu (Washington Irving/Brooklyn).
 
      The novice 8 was an all-freshman boat made up of coxswain Meghan McGrattan (Dryden/Dryden), stroke Kerin Murphy (Nashoba/Lancaster, Mass.), seventh seat Becky Webster, sixth seat Marissa Speno (Clinton Senior/Clinton), fifth seat Lisa Russell (Lyme-Old Lyme/Old Lyme, Conn.), fourth seat Victoria Samborski (Frontier/Hamburg), third seat Jine Andreozzi (Shaker/Loudonville), second seat Kristi Helm (Ewing/Ewing, N.J.) and bow Jacqueline Harpham (Downington West/Downington, Pa.),
 
      The second novice 4 was made up of freshman coxswain Chrissie Devalle (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights, Ohio), freshman stroke Liz Graham (Cortland/Dryden), freshman third seat Kristen Essex (Joel Barlow/Redding, Conn.), freshman second seat Megan McAllister(Kadena [Okinawa, Japan]/Fairfax Station, Va.) and freshman bow  Ruthie Goff (Chatfield Senior/Littleton, Colo.).
