Women's Crew Wins Two Races

The novice 8 won by over 30 seconds
ITHACA, N.Y. —The Bombers hosted a regatta featuring St. Lawrence, Hamilton, Skidmore and RIT Saturday. The Bombers earned open-water wins in the second varsity 8 and the novice 8.
 
The second varsity 8 won a morning heat with a time of 7:02.0, easily defeating RIT (7:17.8) and St. Lawrence (7:26.5). The Ithaca third varsity 8, competing in the second varsity division for the weekend, also won a heat (7:30.1), defeating Hamilton (7:33.7) and Skidmore (7:37.5). The final saw the Ithaca second varsity 8 (7:11.3) victorious, with the Bomber third varsity (7:21.7) ahead of RIT (7:24.2).
 
The novice 8 was also a winner, crossing the line with a time of 7:40.8. The Ithaca “B” boat was second (8:12.4) with Hamilton third (8:15.1).
 
The varsity 8 (3-2) defeated Hamilton in a heat before falling to St. Lawrence in the afternoon’s final. The Saints (6:48.6) nipped the Bombers (6:49.7) in a well-contested race, giving St. Lawrence its first-ever win over Ithaca.
 
The Bombers will leave Cayuga Inlet for the first time next weekend, traveling to Worcester, Mass. to take on Holy Cross, Colby, Tufts and Connecticut College Saturday.
 
      The varsity 8 was made up of sophomore coxswain Elyse Rosati (Norco/Norco, Calif.), junior stroke Katie O’Driscoll (Quincy/Cohasset, Mass.), junior seventh seat Danielle Llopiz (Mast Academy/Miami, Fla.), junior sixth seat Kelsey Schaeffer (Ithaca/Ithaca), freshman fifth seat Amy Gefell (Greece Arcadia/Rochester), junior fourth seat Alex Chesney (Hancock Central/Hancock, Mich.), freshman third seat Lauren LaPointe (Lowell/Lowell, Mass.), senior second seat Kristin Morris (Bow/Bow, N.H.) and senior bow Candace Eastman (Oneonta/Oneonta).
 
      The second varsity 8 was made up senior coxswain Nicole Valentino (Academy of the Holy Angels/Wood Ridge, N.J.), junior stroke Alden Hall (Stratford Academy/Macon, Ga.), sophomore seventh seat Julie Potter (Arlington/Poughkeepsie), senior sixth seat Kady Wysocki (Greenport/Orient), sophomore fifth seat Kathryn Irwin (Annapolis/Annapolis, Md.), sophomore fourth seat Stephanie Levesque (St. Paul Catholic/Bristol, Conn.), junior third seat Diana Glicini (Dallas/Dallas, Pa.), junior second seat Sarah Veninsky (Marathon/Richford) and sophomore bow Aliyah Emas (Northeast/Philadelphia, Pa.).
 
      The third varsity 8 was made up of sophomore coxswain Kaitlin Ahl (Shaker/Latham), senior stroke Sara Cleary (Upper Dublin/Ambler, Pa.), junior seventh seat Anthea Barnett (John S. Davidson Fine Arts/Augusta, Ga.), freshman seventh seat Meagan McAllister (Kadena [Okinawa, Japan]/Fairfax Station, Va.), sophomore sixth seat Chelsea Phillips (Suffield/West Suffield, Conn.), sophomore fifth seat Allison Creland (Brighton/Rochester), sophomore fourth seat Erica Gordon (Irvington/Irvington), freshman third seat Meagan McAllister (Kadena [Okinawa, Japan]/Fairfax Station, Va.), junior second seat Maggie Fisk (Gallia Academy/Rio Grande, Ohio) and sophomore first seat Vivian Fu (Washington Irving/Brooklyn).
 
      The novice 8 was an all-freshman boat made up of coxswain Meghan McGrattan (Dryden/Dryden), stroke Kerin Murphy (Nashoba/Lancaster, Mass.), seventh seat Becky Webster, sixth seat Marissa Speno (Clinton Senior/Clinton), fifth seat Lisa Russell (Lyme-Old Lyme/Old Lyme, Conn.), fourth seat Victoria Samborski (Frontier/Hamburg), third seat Jine Andreozzi (Shaker/Loudonville), second seat Kristi Helm (Ewing/Ewing, N.J.) and bow Jacqueline Harpham (Downington West/Downington, Pa.),
 
      The second novice 8 was made up of freshman coxswain Chrissie Devalle (Cleveland Heights/Cleveland Heights, Ohio), stroke McAllister, freshman seventh seat Ruthie Goff (Chatfield Senior/Littleton, Colo.), freshman sixth seat Liz Graham (Cortland/Dryden), freshman fifth seat Kristen Essex (Joel Barlow/Redding, Conn.), freshman fourth seat Kasey Stevenson third seat Alyssa Van Auken (Northampton Area/Northampton, Pa.), freshman second seat Abby Jamiel (Toll Gate/Warwick) and sophomore bow Skyler Babcock (Richfield Springs/Richfield Springs).
 
 
      The novice 4 was an-all freshman boat made up of stroke Drea Kasianchuk (Kennett/Conway, N.H.), third seat Desirae Huizinga (Candor/Candor), second seat Lindsay Mott (Los Altos/Los Altos, Calif.) and bow Michelle Rhodes (Dryden/Dryden).
