ITHACA, N.Y. -- The sixth-ranked St. John Fisher Cardinals (4-0, 1-0 Empire 8) scored 23 straight second-half points on their way to a 37-16 win over the Ithaca Bombers (2-2, 0-2 Empire 8).
Ithaca used a safety and a short touchdown drive to score nine quick fourth-quarter points but the Bombers were unable to convert an onside kick and the Cardinals remained in control.
Junior quarterback
Dan Juvan (Dobbs Ferry/Yonkers) threw for 227 yards for the Bombers, completing 24 of a career-best 44 attempts. He threw a six-yard pass to junior tight end
Brian Weverbergh (Staples/Westport, Conn.) in the first half and a 21-yard pass to senior wide receiver
Brian Hogan (La Salle/Jamison, Pa.) in the fourth quarter.
Hogan’s touchdown came two plays after Ithaca recorded a safety; senior strong safety
Ryan Terlecki (Pennsbury/Fairless Hills, Pa.) dropped a St. John fisher running back in the Cardinal end zone on a first-down play from the St. John Fisher one-yard line.
Terlecki led Ithaca with a career-high 22 tackles and junior linebacker
Matt Scalice (North Tonawanda/North Tonawanda) added a career-best 19.
Terlecki also forced a Cardinal fumble that sophomore defensive end
