Ithaca College Athletics

Junior Brandy Smith (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades School) set a new meet and facility record in the discus at the Greyhound Invitational and was honored as Ithaca College's Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 17, 2016. 

Smith, the reigning NCAA Division III national champion in the discus, posted a winning performance of 50.46 meters in the event hosted by Moravian College. 

Smith won the event by more than six meters, and finished nearly 12 meter farther than the closest Division III entry. She matched her school record in the shot put and took second at 13.12 meters (ECAC). She was also a runner-up in the hammer throw in an ECAC mark of 45.56 meters.

Smith and the Bombers return to action at the annual Empire 8 Championships Saturday at Houghton College.
