Ryan Henchey (Rensselaer, N.Y./Columbia) of the Ithaca College baseball team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for action taking place during the week that concluded April 10. 2016.
In the Bombers’ only contest of the week, Henchey went 4-for-8 with five RBI, three runs scored, two doubles and a homerun in a sweep of Canton. In the opening game of the series, the Bombers' catcher was 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a RBI.
During Ithaca's 16-5 victory in game two, Henchey went 2-for-5 at the plate with four RBI and hit the Bombers' only homerun of the afternoon in the seventh inning. The junior is batting .321 on the season with three homers and 13 RBI. This is the first Empire 8 Conference weekly award of Henchey's career.
The Bombers are 11-9 on the season and have won their last four contests.
Ithaca looks to complete the series sweep of Canton on Monday when it plays a nine-inning game against the Roos in Aurora, N.Y.
