Nikkey Skuraton (Mendam, N.J./West Morris Mendham) of the Ithaca College softball team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week after playing a pivotal role in Ithaca’s four wins during the week that ended April 3, 2016.
In four games, Skuraton was a nightmare for opposing pitchers after going 6-for-14 with seven runs scored, five RBI, two walks, two homeruns a double and a triple overall.Â
Against the University of Rochester last Wednesday, Skuraton went 2-for-2 in the nightcap and scored three runs to go along with three runs batted in on a homer and a triple as the Bombers completed the sweep of the Yellowjackets.
On Saturday, Skuraton hit another homerun and scored twice as Ithaca took both ends of doubleheader at Nazareth College in the Bombers’ conference-opener.
For the season, the freshman infielder ranks third on the team with a .366 batting average and has seven extra base hits.
Skuraton and the rest of softball will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to Elmira for a doubleheader against the Soaring Eagles.
