Senior Megan Harrington (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) won the all-around championship during Sunday’s National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) East Regionals and qualified for the national championship competition in the all-around and three individual events.
Harrington captured the all-around championship with a career-best score of 38.200 in her first time competing in the all-around this year. Harrington and sophomore Kendra Balcerak qualified for the NCGA national championships, which occur March 18-19 on the campus of The College at Brockport.
Harrington will compete in the all-around, the floor exercise, the uneven bars, and the vault as she seeks her second All-American performance at nationals.
Harrington, the regional all-around champion, will compete for the national championship in the all-around March 18. The individual event portion of nationals will be held March 19. The top nine student-athletes on each event, based on their National Qualifying Score (NQS), earned a spot in nationals.
Led by a season-best score of 47.675 on the balance beam, the Bombers scored a season-high 186.475 at the East Regionals.
On the beam, Harrington tied for 16th with a score of 9.5. Harrington set a career-high on the floor with a score of 9.675 to place ninth. On the vault, Harrington recorded another career-high with a score of 9.550 to tie for fourth. Harrington added to her career day, setting a season-best score on the uneven bars, placing sixth with a score of 9.475.Â
