Junior Nick Wahba (Somerville/Somerville, N.J.) dominated the field at the annual Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) championships Saturday, recording a pin, a major decision victory and a shutout win en route to the championship at 141 pounds.
Wahba was named Ithaca’s Male Athlete of the Week as the Bombers claimed the program’s third straight ECWC title with 203 points.
Wahba, one of three Ithaca student-athletes to win their weight class, pinned Cortland's Matt Norris in 2:41, handed Brockport's Donny McCoy a 12-1 major decision, and blanked RIT’s Jake Sepor 5-0 to claim the title and improve to 13-1 on the year. It was his second straight ECWC title.Â
Ithaca bested runner-up Cortland by 51 points to win the ECWC championship.
Wahba has won five straight matches for the Bombers, ranked ninth in the country by the National Wrestling Coaches' Association (NWCA).
