Brandon Thompson (Hull/West Hartford, Conn.) of the Ithaca College men’s soccer team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week after helping the Bombers clinch a spot in the upcoming Empire 8 Championship with a 2-1 overtime win against Elmira on Saturday.

Thompson scored the game-winning goal in the closing minutes of the first overtime period after out hustling the Soaring Eagles’ defense to a loose ball at the top of the box before burying his seventh goal of the season.

The West Hartford, Conn. Leads the team and ranks seventh in the conference with 15 points.

Thompson and the rest of his teammates will return to action at 3 p.m. on Wednesday when they travel to Rochester to take on the Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers in a non-conference game.
