Logan Murphy (Arlington, Lagrangeville, N.Y.) of the nationally-ranked Ithaca College football team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week concluding October 11, 2015 after a career performance in a 47-19 rout of Hartwick on Saturday.
Murphy posted a career-high four-and-a-half sacks in the win and tallied nine tackles overall. Murphy's sack total is the most by a Bomber since the 2002 season and is the second-most sacks in a game by a Division III student-athlete this year. The senior defensive end created havoc in the Hawk’s backfield all afternoon leading to a career-best six tackles for a loss, which is tied for the most by a Division III student-athlete in the country this year.
The Lagrangeville native currently ranks third in the Empire 8 with 5.5 sacks and 10.0 tackles for a loss.
Football will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts conference opponent, The College at Brockport, at Butterfield Stadium.
