Derek Slywka was named a First Team All-American by the Associated Press and D3football.com, as well as a Second Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association in 2023. Slywka was also selected as a First Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators and was the D3football.com Defensive Player of the Year for Region 2. In 2023, Slywka recorded six interceptions and 10 pass breakups, to go along with 51 total tackles and two blocked kicks. He would go on to sign a free agency deal with the Indianapolis Colts and moved to wide receiver.
