The Bombers will host Montclair State (16-1) Wednesday, May 7 at 4 p.m. at Higgins Stadium. The winner of that game will travel to Rochester Institute of Technology, who earned a first-round bye, on Saturday, May 10.

ITHACA vs. 2014 NCAA PLAYOFF FIELD: The Bombers have faced three other 2014 NCAA Tournament qualifiers this season. Ithaca dropped a 15-11 decision to RIT on March 1, fell at Cabrini 20-11 on March 29 and suffered an 8-7 overtime loss to visiting Cortland on April 2.
SERIES RESULTS: The Bombers and the Red Hawks have met once. The inaugural game went the way of the Bombers, 17-5, on March 21, 1998. Ithaca owns a 29-21 record all-time against the Tigers. Against the top half of the bracket, Ithaca leads the series against: Colorado College 1-0, New England College 2-0, Western New England 2-0 and Keuka 5-0. The Bombers are 1-1 against Springfield, 0-4 against Union and 12-37 against Cortland. Ithaca has never played Amherst, Endicott, Keene State, Tufts or Emmanuel.
ITHACA IN THE NCAA PLAYOFFS: The Bombers are making their 12th appearance in the NCAA playoffs and first since 2008. They have compiled a 9-11 record in those tournaments. It is Ithaca's eighth appearance under head coach
Jeff Long. Ithaca's last NCAA appearance was during the 2008 season when the Bombers advanced to the semifinal round for the fourth time in program history. Ithaca defeated Williams 17-10 and Western New England 13-12 in overtime before falling at Cortland, 16-5.
THE 2014 NCAA PLAYOFFS: The Division III championship provides for a 30-team, single-elimination tournament. The 30 teams include 20 winners of conferences whose champions have been awarded automatic qualification, including Empire 8 champion Ithaca and Liberty League champion RIT, five teams that are either independents or members of conferences whose champions do not receive automatic bids and five teams from automatic-qualification conferences that did not win their conference title. Fourteen first-round games will be held on Wednesday, May 7 and the second round-games will be played Saturday, May 10. The quarterfinals will be played Wednesday, May 14 and the semifinals will be held on Sunday, May 18. Except for the championship game, all games will be played on the campus of one of the competing teams. This year's finalists will advance to Baltimore for the championship game at M&T Bank Stadium, which will be played at 1 p.m. on May 25.
