Box Score 2 ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College baseball team dropped a pair of games to open its spring trip to California on Sunday afternoon. The Bombers fell 17-8 in a game at La Verne and then lost 9-7 at Whittier in the second game of the day. Ithaca's record stands at 2-2 on the season and the Bombers will face Pomona-Pitzer on Monday afternoon.
LAVERNE 17, ITHACA 8 | Box Score
The host Leopards scored at least one run in each of the first six innings in a win over Ithaca. The Bombers started the game with two runs in the top of the first, and added two more in the top of the third to tie the score at 4-4. La Verne responded with a six-run third inning and never trailed again.
Christian Brown was 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs in the game, and
Colby Gee hit a two-run homer for the Bombers.
Matt Connolly also had two hits in the game.
Starting pitcher
Andrew Sanders took the loss in 2.1 innings of work.
Chris Anderson pitched the last four and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits with three strikeouts.
WHITTIER 9, ITHACA 7 | Box Score
Ithaca held a 2-1 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh but Whittier scored six times after the stretch, added two insurance runs in the eighth and went on to the 9-7 victory.
Colby Gee led the way at the plate for the Bombers with four hits in five at-bats. He scored once and drove in a run.
Trevor Thompson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Seven different players accounted for at least one of Ithaca's 13 hits in the contest.
Tim Henry had two hits and scored three runs.
Matt Connolly was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Benji Parkes made his Ithaca debut and pitched six innings, allowing three runs and six hits as the starter. He took the loss.

Matt Colbert pitched in relief.
