Box Score 2 YAPHANK, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College baseball team began its 2014 season with a doubleheader sweep of Old Westbury on Friday afternoon at Baseball Heaven. Ithaca won the first game 1-0 and the second game 2-0. The Bombers are 2-0 on the season and will continue their season with six games in California this week.

The Bombers scored the game's only run in the top of the seventh inning on a bases-loaded sacrifice fly by
Brian Burns to bring home
John Stanley. Ithaca loaded the bases on Stanley's leadoff single, then
Colby Gee reached when he was hit by a pitch and
Stephen Yanchus reached on an error. Burns flew out to right field to bring in Stanley.
John Prendergast earned the victory on the mound. He pitched all seven innings and faced just two more batters than the minimum. He allowed two hits, both singles, with no walks and didn't hit any batters. Prendergast had three strikeouts in the game.

Matt Connolly scored on an RBI single to right field by
Cooper Belyea. Ithaca added an unearned run in the fifth when a fielding error in the Old Westbury infield allowed
Tim Henry to score from third base.
David Jasukonis earned the victory in five innings of work and allowed just one hit with three strikeouts.
Jimmy Wagner pitched the final two innings to earn the save. He allowed one hit with two strikeouts.
