Ithaca Men's And Women's Tennis Teams Fall To Missouri Valley

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- The Ithaca College men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up their spring trips with dual matches against Missouri Valley College, and NAIA institution from Marshall, Mo. Each dual was close throughout and MVC won narrow 5-4 victories in each dual.

In the men's match, Ithaca won two of three doubles matches to take the lead. Justin Levine and Zach Passman were 8-0 winners at first doubles and Chris Hayes and Griffin Reid scored an 8-3 win at third doubles. In singles play, Hayes won at the third spot in three sets and Wes Davis scored a three-set win at sixth singles. Ithaca is 2-3 on the season and will travel to Hobart for a dual match March 25 before getting into its full Empire 8 schedule.

On the women's side, Ithaca picked up a 9-7 doubles victory at the first spot by Haley Kusak and Carly Siegel. Allison Vizgaitis won the first singles match off to tie up the dual. Vizgaitis was a 6-1, 6-4 winner. Kusak then won her singles match 6-0, 6-3 to put Ithaca in front, but MVC won the next three singles matches to clinch the victory. Ithaca got its final point with an Alyssa Steinweis 6-4, 6-0 win at fifth singles. The Ithaca College women will return to action April 12 at New Paltz.
