ITHACA, N.Y. – Ithaca College wrestler Carlos Toribio was named Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference Rookie of the Week for Dec. 10, 2013. Toribio earned the distinction following his weight-class championship and Most Outstanding Wrestler designation at the New Standard Invitational hosted by York College.

Toribio went 4-0 at the York tournament. He won his first bout in an 8-3 decision over a wrestler from Williams. He advanced to the semifinals with a win by injury default in the second round. In the semifinals, Toribio posted a 9-2 decision victory and in the finals he defeated nationally-ranked Zach Zotollo of The College of New Jersey by a 5-4 decision.

Toribio has an 11-2 overall record this season. The Bombers placed second at the New Standard Invitational in the team standings.

Ithaca continues its season with a pair of dual matches this week, traveling to RIT on Wednesday night and then hosting Oswego at 4 p.m. Saturday at Ben Light Gymnasium.
