ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Freshman
Shaelynn Schmidt was named to the All-Empire 8 Volleyball Second Team announced Wednesday. The rookie leads the Bomber offense with 381 kills.
Schmidt has recorded 17 double-digit kill performances having played in 129 of the Bombers' 136 sets this season. A career-best 24 kills came in Ithaca's five-set thriller against conference foe St. John Fisher. She registered four blocks in matches against Albright and Houghton. Schmidt has dug 127 balls, posted 35 blocks (3 solo, 32 assists) and served nine aces.
This season she has been named to the New Paltz Hawk Invitational and the Ithaca Tournament all-tournament teams.

Syline Kim is Ithaca's representative on the 2013 Empire 8 Women's Volleyball Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 emphasizes that "competing with honor and integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. The sportswoman of the year recipients have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.
