MARRANCA INVITATIONAL RESULTS
ITHACA, N.Y. — The nationally-ranked Ithaca College gymnastics team hosted its annual Harriet Marranca Memorial Invitational Sunday afternoon inside Ben Light Gymnasium, and the Bombers placed fourth in the Senior Day event.
Ithaca (4-10) scored 184.300 points and trailed Division I Temple University (191.150), No. 2 Brockport (190.300), and No. 4 Cortland (186.975).
Ithaca finished ahead of Rhode Island College (178.250) as the Bombers showed dramatic improvement in the team scoring department. Ithaca scored nearly 23 more points than in last week's dual match at Rhode Island College.
The Bombers placed third on the balance beam (46.725), finishing .700 ahead of Cortland, and were fourth in both the floor exercise (47.125) and the uneven bars (44.300). Ithaca placed fifth on the vault (46.150).
Sophomores
Eleanor Almeida and
Melissa Hollrigl each set career-highs on the floor exercise, as Almeida placed eighth with a 9.575 and Hollrigl tied for 10th with a 9.525.
For the fourth time this year, senior
Megan Harrington posted a score of 9.55 or higher on the floor exercise, placing ninth with a score of 9.55. Freshman
Victoria Gery placed 19th on the floor with a score of 9.325.
On the balance beam, sophomore
Kendra Balcerak set a season-best with a score of 9.6 to place 10th. She was followed by sophomore
Maggie Nieto, who placed 13th with a season-best score of 9.475, Almeida, who had a career-high score of 9.350 to place in a tie for 15th, and freshman
Nina Bustamante-Nadeau, who also tied for 15th with a 9.350.
Harrington was 12th on the uneven bars (9.275), sophomore
Danielle Maffuid was 13th (9.25), and Balcerak was 14th (9.125).
On the vault, Harrington equaled her career-high with a score of 9.450 to place 13th. Gery placed 22nd (9.275), and freshman
Maggie Verrette tied for 24th (9.2).
Ithaca honored four seniors on Senior Day: Harrington,
Valerie Cohen,
Emma Duncan, and
Lara Haberle.
