ITHACA, N.Y. – Ithaca College men's cross country and track & field student-athlete
Dennis Ryan has been named to the
District 3 NCAA Division III All-Academic Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team. He is one of 10 recognized on the first team and advances to the ballot for academic all-America honors.
Ryan was voted captain of both his cross country and track & field teams as a junior.
During the cross country season, he clocked the third-best 8,000-meter time on the team. Named to the Empire 8 First Team, Ryan finished third overall at the conference championships. He earned Second-Team All-NYSCTC honors with an 11th-place finish and was selected to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. During the T&F seasons, Ryan clocked team-best times in the indoor 4x800, DMR, 800 and 1,000 and outdoor 4x800 and 1,500. A three-time All-ECAC and four-time All-NYSCTC finisher in 2013-14, Ryan was the runner-up in the indoor 800 run at the Empire 8 Championships.
The 11th men's track & field and/or cross country student-athlete honored in program history, Ryan is the first to receive first-team recognition since
David Geary and
Nathan Bickell did so in 2012-13. A total of 200 Ithaca athletes have earned academic all-district honors over the past 24 years.
