HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- The Ithaca College women's golf team was off to a very strong start in the third round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships when play was suspended due to darkness on Thursday night. Ithaca completed its round Friday morning with a third-round score of 325 and is in sixth place in the team standings heading into the final round. The top-12 teams have advanced to the final round of the tournament, which will begin at 12:15 p.m. Friday.
Play began in the third round in shotgun format Thursday afternoon, and Ithaca's in-progress score of 9-over-par was the top score among all teams in the third round when play was called. Lightning delays on Wednesday forced several teams to finish their second rounds Thursday morning. Once those were complete, the shotgun start was scheduled to begin the third round Thursday at noon, but further delays meant later starts. Golfers were able to begin play later Thursday afternoon and almost all players completed at least eight holes.
