HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- The Ithaca College women's golf team improved its team score by two strokes in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships on Wednesday. Ithaca's score of 324 on Wednesday left the Bombers with a two-day total of 650, which stands fifth in a field of 21 teams. Ithaca is just four strokes out of fourth place and 16 shots behind tournament-leading Rhodes College. Ithaca teed off in the morning session Wednesday, and completed its round. Thunder delays throughout the round means that 12 teams will finish their second rounds Thursday morning beginning at 7:30 a.m.

For the second consecutive day, a freshman led the way for Ithaca.
Kimberley Wong posted a 4-over-par 76 on the par-72 layout of the El Campeon Course at Mission Inn Resort. Wong went out on the front nine with a score of 40, then played an even-par second nine with seven pars, a birdie on the 11th hole and one bogey for 36. Only two other players in the field who completed their rounds bettered Wong's score of 76.

Sharon Li scored 80 in her second round for a two-day total of 164, a four-shot improvement from the opening day. Li went out on in 4-over-par 40, with a bogey on four and a triple-bogey on the par-three eighth. She was one-over on her back nine following a birdie at 17, but closed with a seven for an inward 40.

Kelsey Baker and
Lisa Calcasola each posted 84 to round out the scoring lineup for Ithaca. Baker shot 39 on the front nine, Ithaca's best score over the opening nine holes on Wednesday, but she managed just three pars on the back nine to come in with 45. Her 84 Wednesday was one stroke more than her opening round and she has a two-day total of 167. Calcasola held the individual lead after the opening round with a 75, and followed that up with 84 on a front-nine score of 41 and a back-nine 43.

Ithaca's fifth player was
Amanda Failla, who shot a second-round 90 for a two-day total of 174.
