Box Score CANTON, N.Y. – The 18th-ranked Ithaca College baseball team lost 5-3 at St. Lawrence on Thursday afternoon. The host Saints used a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie, and then held on in the ninth for the win. St. Lawrence is 17-12 on the year. Ithaca, ranked 18th by D3baseball.com and 20th by the American Baseball Coaches Association, is 26-9. The Bombers have regular-season games scheduled May 10 at Brockport and May 11 at home against Oswego.
St. Lawrence took the lead with two runs in the second inning and one more in the fifth.
Ithaca rallied in the top of the eighth inning.
John Stanley hit a one-out double and later scored when
Colby Gee hit a two-out double to bring him in. Back-to-back walks to
Zach Cole and
Matt Connolly brought
Christian Brown to the plate with the bases loaded and he singled to center to bring in two runs and tie the score 3-3.
St. Lawrence regained the lead in the eighth on the two-run homer from Devin Robson.
Ithaca put two runners on in the top of the ninth with one out but didn't score.
Benji Parkes (3-4) was charged with the loss in relief of starting pitcher
David Jasukonis. Parkes allowed the two-run homer in the eighth inning, his only runs against in three and two-thirds innings of work. He allowed two hits, one walk, and had three strikeouts. Jasukonis allowed three earned runs over four and a third. He allowed six hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Ithaca had six hits in the game, led by
John Stanley with a double and a single.
