HOLYOKE, Mass. -- The Ithaca College women's golf team is tied for first place following the opening round of the Jack Leaman Championship hosted by Amherst College. Saturday's opening round was played at Hickory Ridge Golf Club. Sunday's second round will take place at The Orchards at South Hadley, Mass.
Ithaca's team score of 318 has the Bombers tied for first with host Amherst. The Bombers finished ahead of Division II opponent Merrimack (third at 321) and nationally-ranked opponents No. 4 Williams (fourth, 324) and 25th-ranked Middlebury (fifth, 331). Ithaca is the defending tournament champion.
Three Ithaca individuals rank fifth, sixth, and seventh in the individual standings.
Sharon Li is fifth with a consistent 38-38 -- 76,
Amanda Failla is sixth after a round of 77 in her first competitive round of the spring portion of the schedule and
Kelsey Baker posted 37-41 -- 78.
Ithaca's fourth score was an 87 from
Lisa Calcasola, who is tied for 35th and the fifth member of the lineup,
Kimberley Wong, scored 89 and is tied for 47th.
Ithaca players will be paired with playing partners from Amherst and Merrimack in Sunday's second round at The Orchards.
