Men's T&F Team Hits Seven ECAC Qualifiers at Moravian and Bucknell

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team competed Saturday at the Moravian Coach P Invitational and the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic. Ithaca student-athletes had 18 top-10 finishes at Moravian.
 
The Bombers met three ECAC qualifiers at Bucknell. Sawyer Hitchcock placed 15th out of 43 competitors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:31.14. Stephen Gomez and Sean Phillips raced to finishes of 15:08.08 and 15:09.84, respectively, to place 25th and 28th in the 5,000 run.
 
At Moravian, De'Marquis Graves placed seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 13.62 meters to meet the ECAC standard. He also placed ninth in the long with a leap of 6.38 meters.
 
Andrew Brandt was the high jump runner up having cleared 1.98 meters to surpass the ECAC qualifier.
 
Ithaca had three additional top-10 finishes in the field events. Jarrod Monacelli cleared 4.40 meters in the pole vault to finish third, while Christian Stremmel and Jevaughn Gibbs had heaves of 41.29 and 39.71 meters, respectively, to place seventh and 10th in the hammer throw.
 
A pair of Ithaca relays hit ECAC times. The Bombers' 4x400 relay of Mason Mann, Jordan Smith, Matt Femia and Brennan Edmonds placed second in 3:22.61, while Ithaca's team of Rashaad Barrett, Aaron Matthias, Kevin Davis and Jeff Hejna ran third in the 4x100 with a time of 42.57.
 
Femia, Smith and Edmonds all placed in the 400. Femia clocked in at 50.19 to place fifth, Smith at 50.90 to finish eighth and Edmonds in 51.47 to earn 10th.
 
Barrett crossed the finish line of the 100 in 11.24 to place fifth. Davis followed in seventh in 11.31. Barrett also ran sixth in the 200 and Matthias 10th with times of 22.80 and 22.90.
 
Larkin Bohanan earned bronze in the 800 run with a time of 1:57.39. Mann was right on his heels with a fourth-place finish of 1:57.67.
 
Brendan Davis placed seventh in the 1,500 with a finish of 4:09.45.
 
The Bombers return to action on Tuesday, April 15 hosting the first of two Ithaca Tuesday Meets.
