ITHACA, N.Y. -- Ithaca College baseball starting pitcher John Prendergast was honored as the Empire 8 Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 30, 2014. Prendergast has been the ace of the staff for the Bombers as the team has started 9-4 this season.

In his most recent outing, Prendergast allowed just one hit in five shutout innings of Ithaca's 7-1 win over Houghton on Thursday. He had seven strikeouts and allowed just one batter to reach base on a first-inning single. It was his fourth win of the season.

On the year, he has allowed just one earned run and 14 hits in 26 innings of work. He has 25 strikeouts, has issued just one walk, and has a 0.35 earned-run average. Prendergast was a third-team all-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association last year and a first-team selection to the ABCA NY Region team.
