CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team competed Saturday at the 2014 New York State Collegiate Track Conference Indoor Championship at St. Lawrence. The Bombers, who have won two titles in program history, scored 87.5 points over the course of 21 events. Ithaca was just five points out of third place.
Ithaca had 15 individual and two relay All-NYSCTC finishes on day two of competition. The Bombers met five ECAC standards Saturday.
The Bombers have placed in the top five of the indoor state meet 21 times in the last 28 years.
A trio placed in the 200 dash. Junior
Kevin Davis ran fifth in an ECAC-qualifying 22.79. Sophomores
Aaron Matthias and
Jeff Hejna followed in seventh and eighth, respectively, with times of 23.21 and 23.38.
Freshman
Sean Phillips ran third in the 3,000 in 8:48.21, junior
Dennis Ryan placed fourth in the 1,000 in 2:32.23 and junior
Mason Mann was seventh in the 500 in 1:07.86. All three met their respective ECAC qualifiers.
Sophomore
De'Marquis Graves placed sixth in the triple jump and senior
Brennan Edmonds eighth. Graves had an ECAC-good mark of 13.57 meters and Edmonds recorded a mark of 13.15 meters.
Three Bombers placed in the 400 dash. Junior
Matt Femia ran fourth, Edmonds fifth and sophomore
Jordan Smith seventh. They clocked times of 51.23, 51.41 and 51.64.
Junior
Rashaad Barrett raced to a fifth-place finish of 7.14 in the 60 dash. Junior
Steve Derderian finished seventh in the mile run with a time of 4:33.57. Sophomore
Larkin Bohanan crossed the finish line of the 800 run in 2:00.11.
Senior
Brendan Wilkins cleared 1.88 meters in the high jump to place seventh.
Ithaca's 4x400 relay of sophomore
Zane Scott, Smith, Femia and Edmonds placed fifth with a time of 3:28.23, while the Bombers' 4x800 team of Bohanan, Mann, freshman
Brendan Davis and Ryan ran sixth in 8:11.67.
Ithaca will return to action Friday and Saturday, March 7-8 at the ECAC Indoor Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
