ALFRED, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's basketball team (21-4, 13-1 Empire 8) won the Empire 8 regular-season title for the sixth straight season with a victory at Alfred (6-19, 1-13 Empire 8) Saturday afternoon. The Bombers had 13 players score points to defeat the Saxons, 80-35, and win their 13th straight game.
The win secures Ithaca the top seed for the Empire 8 Championship Tournament to be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28 and March 1 at Ben Light Gymnasium. Ithaca will play fourth-seeded St. John Fisher in a 6 p.m. semifinal game Friday, while second-seeded Hartwick will play third-seeded Stevens in the other semifinal at 8 p.m. The championship game will be played at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Ithaca held Alfred to just 16 first-half points and 19 in the second while tallying its largest margin of victory in 2013-14.
The Bombers jumped out to an 11-3 lead four minutes into the game. Their lead grew to double-digits at 12:22. Ithaca went on to outscore Alfred 18-4 over the final seven minutes of the first to lead 43-16 at intermission. Ithaca continued to dominate in the latter half improving its gap to 30 at the 15-minute mark and 40 10 minutes after that. The Bombers' bench contributed half of their points during the win.

Ithaca outrebounded Alfred 48-28 and drained 56.7 percent from the floor to the Saxons' 21.4 percent.
