ITHACA, N.Y.-- The Ithaca College men's track and field team opened its indoor 2014-15 season at the Cornell Relays on Saturday, Dec. 6th in Barton Hall.
Rashaad Barrett met the ECAC qualifying mark for the 60-meter dash. No team scoring was tallied in the meet that consisted of NCAA Division I institutions, club teams and unattached runners.
Barrett ran 7.04 in the 60-meter dash final, but passed the ECAC qualifier in the preliminaries with a time of 6.97 seconds. Barrett currently holds the Ithaca College 60-meter dash record (6.95 seconds) after breaking the previous record last year at the 2013 Cornell Relays.
Junior
Andrew Brandt placed fourth in the high jump, clearing 6 feet, 4.38 inches (1.94 meters). Brandt cleared a height of 1.93 meters to meet the ECAC qualifying standards.
De'Marquis Graves earned a third place finish in the triple jump by recording a distance of 45' 7.25" (13.9 meters). His performance also surpassed the required distance for the ECAC, allowing Graves to qualify in the triple jump.
Another top finisher for was Bombers was junior
Stephen Gomez. Gomez finished the 3,000-meter run in fifth place with a time of 8:57.67. Teammates
Tim Chappell,
Larkin Bohanan and
Dennis Ryan followed in sixth, seventh and ninth place.
Anthony Altobelli,
Chris Gutierrez,
Eric Melcer and
Josh Bruce made up Ithaca's 4x800 meter relay team that took sixth place with a time of 8:27.59.
Freshman
Seth Abbott and sophomores
Tyler Denn-Thiele and
Andrew Ward represented Ithaca in the heptathlon. Ward ranked sixth overall in the heptathlon and recorded a third place finish of 9.16 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles. Denn-Thiele took third in the pole vault, the sixth heptathlon event, by clearing a height of 11 feet, 9.73 inches (3.60 meters). Abbott's best finish of the day came in the 1,000 meter run of the heptathlon, where he placed third with a time of 2:51.96.
Ithaca returns to action on Friday, Jan. 16 at the New York City Gotham Cup in New York, New York. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
