ITHACA, N.Y. -- Ithaca College senior women's golfer
Amanda Failla earned Empire 8 Athlete of the Week honors after a strong weekend performance at the Martin-Wallace Invitational hosted by Cortland. Failla placed in a tie for sixth overall among a field of 58 individuals in a tournament that included perennial national power Methodist. The Bombers finished second in the team standings to Methodist.
Failla opened the weekend with a first-round score of 80 on Elm Tree Golf Course. Sunday's second round was held at Cortland Country Club and Failla posted a score of 78, tied with
Sharon Li for the best score by a Bomber in that round. It was the second-lowest 18-hole score in Failla's collegiate career and was also her best effort at the Cortland layout where Ithaca competes annually.
Ithaca continues its season at the Williams Fall Classic this weekend at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass.
