Men's Soccer Loses, 4-1, At Houghton

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team (1-6-0, 1-0-0 E8) lost to Houghton (7-0-0) Saturday evening, falling to the Highlanders by a score of 4-1 at Burke Field. Freshman Sean Forward scored the lone tally for the Bombers, while junior Jordan Gentile and sophomore Kenny Chapman split time in net. Chapman allowed one goal in the first half before giving way to Gentile, who allowed three goals in the second frame.

Houghton opened the scoring with a goal in the 10th minute, taking an early 1-0 lead. Ithaca answered in the 23rd minute, evening the contest at 1-1. Sophomore Cody Kiss fed Forward in the box, allowing Forward to sneak a header past the Houghton goalkeeper for his team-leading fourth goal of the year.

After a tight first half of play, the Highlanders broke the game open with three-straight goals in the second frame. Scores in the 57th, 69th and 75th minute doomed the Bombers, as Houghton was able to pull out the 4-1 victory.

The Bombers are back on the field on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at Carp Wood Field against Hobart. The match is set to start at 4 p.m.
