ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College women's golf team won the 2013 Empire 8 Women's Golf Championship in overwhelming fashion with a team score of 627, for a 188-stroke victory over the second-place team. The Bombers posted team scores of 313 in the opening round and 314 in the second round to accrue the total of 627, which was a school record over two rounds, four strokes better than last week's winning total of 631 at the St. Lawrence Invitational. It was Ithaca's fourth consecutive Empire 8 title.
Sharon Li was the tournament medalist with a score of 150.
Amanda Failla was second with a total of 156, and
Kelsey Baker posted 159.
Kimberley Wong rounded out the scoring members of Ithaca's lineup with back-to-back rounds of 81 for a total of 162. All four of Ithaca's scoring team members comprised the first four overall places in the individual standings and were All-Empire 8 First Team. Wong was Empire 8 Rookie of the Year.
Lisa Calcasola and
Taylor Reeves rounded out Ithaca's lineup. Calcasola posted 166 to earn all-conference first-team honors. Reeves totaled 179, including a solid round of 82 on Sunday, to finish in a tie for seventh overall and was Second Team All-Empire 8.
The tournament was played at Blue Heron Hills, a par-71 layout.
