ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Empire 8 announced its end of the year conference award winners Thursday, honoring four men's soccer players as all-conference selections. Freshman
Sean Forward was named to the All-Empire 8 First Team, while sophomores
Cody Kiss,
Jordan Filipowich and junior
Jordan Gentile earned honorable mention.
Forward led Ithaca in nearly every offensive category, pacing the Bombers with seven goals, five assists and 19 points. Forward's 19 points ranked third in the conference, while his five goals ranked in the top-5 of the Empire 8. Forward also let the team in shots on goal (21) and shooting percentage (.189)
Kiss, Filipowich and Gentile helped anchor a Bomber defense that ranked fourth in the Empire 8 in goals-allowed, giving up just 1.47 goals-per-game in 2013.
Individually, Kiss played in all 17 of the Bombers' games, making 14 starts on defense and recording two assists. Filipowich played in 15 games, making 14 starts at back for Ithaca. Gentile earned four wins on the season after allowing just 1.33 goals-per-game. He recorded two shutouts and made 37 saves on the year.
Junior
A.J. Wolfanger was also honored by being named to the Empire 8 Sportsman of the Year Team. Every year the Empire 8 recognizes a student-athlete representing each sport from each conference school that have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibited the critical traits as outstanding sportsmen.
