Bombers Fall To Utica In Empire 8 Playoffs, 2-0

UTICA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team (4-13-0) lost to Utica (9-9-0) on Wednesday evening, falling to the Pioneers by a score of 2-0 at Geatano Stadium in the first round of the Empire 8 Playoffs. The loss marked the end of the Bombers' season.

Freshman Cobi Byrne led the Bombers with two shots in goal, while junior goalkeeper Jordan Gentile allowed two goals in 90 minutes of play. 

The Pioneers scored the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute. Utica's Kevin McAllister converted on a header in the box to give the Pioneers the early 1-0 lead.

Utica scored again with just under five minutes remaining in the opening half. Dennis Runikera scored after a number of touch passes in the Ithaca end, resulting in a 2-0 lead for the Pioneers.

Neither team was able to score in the second half, securing the 2-0 victory for the Pioneers and ending the Bombers' 2013 campaign. Ithaca earned three conference wins this season, marking the third-straight year the Bombers have finished with three or more conference victories.
