Men's Soccer Loses At No. 4 Stevens, 2-1

Box Score
HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team (4-12-0, 3-3-0 E8) lost a close game to No. 4 Stevens (14-1-1, 6-0 E8) Saturday evening, falling to the Ducks by a score of 2-1 at the De Baun Athletic Complex. Junior Casey Williamson scored the lone goal for the Bombers, while junior goalkeeper Jordan Gentile stopped 2-of-4 shots on goal.

The Ducks scored the first goal of the game just under 10 minutes into the opening frame, as Stevens' forward Joe Cellitti scored his first of the day. Cellitti scored again in the 17th minute, giving the Ducks a 2-0 lead at the half.

The Bombers finally got on the board in the final frame. Williamson collected a pass in the box from junior Max Bjork on a free kick, eventually beating the Stevens' goaltender in the 67th minute. Williamson's tally marked his second goal of the season and cut the Ducks' lead to 2-1.

The Bombers matched the Ducks' intensity for the remainder of the tilt, but were unable to score again, giving the 2-1 victory to Stevens. Ithaca already clinched a spot in the Empire 8 Playoffs despite the loss. First round of playoff action will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
