ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College women's tennis team closed out its Empire 8 regular-season schedule with a 9-0 win over Hartwick on Tuesday at the Wheeler Tennis Courts. Ithaca improved to 8-0 overall and 7-0 in the Empire 8. The Bombers will be the top seed at the Empire 8 championships Oct. 19-20 in Ithaca. Hartwick fell to 5-7 overall and 2-5 in the Empire 8.

Haley Kusak and Marni Blumenthal were 8-0 winners at first doubles to get Ithaca started. Each later won their singles matches. Kusak won 6-1, 6-3 at first singles and Blumenthal was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at fourth singles. Allison Vizgaitis and Alyssa Steinweis won at second doubles and also won in singles play. Carly Siegel and Kelly Fishback won at third doubles.

Ithaca will host the New York State Division III Women's Tennis Championships this weekend at the Wheeler Tennis Courts and Glazer Arena. Action begins at 9 a.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and includes 14 teams from across the state, competing for titles in three doubles and six singles brackets.
