Men's Soccer Loses Close Game To Elmira, 1-0

Box Score
ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team (2-8-0, 1-1 E8) lost to conference foe Elmira (5-6-0, 2-2 E8) Saturday afternoon, falling to the Soaring Eagles by a score of 1-0 at Carp Wood Field. Freshman Sam Boylan led Ithaca with three shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper Jordan Gentile made two saves on three shots.

The Soaring Eagles scored the game's only goal in the 40th minute, coming on a header in the box on a direct kick. Despite a 6-1 shot advantage in the opening frame, the Bombers went to the half down 1-0.

The Bombers recorded more total shots (8-5) again in the second half, with both goalkeepers making two saves apiece in the final stanza.

Despite the advantage in scoring opportunities, the Bombers were unable to break through the Elmira defense, giving the Soaring Eagles a 1-0 shutout win.

The Bombers are back in action on Oct. 19 in their second-straight conference game against Utica at Carp Wood Field. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
