Nationally Ranked Track & Field Teams Set for NCAA Indoor Championships

ITHACA, N.Y. - The nationally ranked No. 2 Ithaca College women's track & field team and the No. 17 men's program will send a total of 13 student-athletes to the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 13-14 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
 
For the women's team, 10 total athletes will compete in 10 different events, which includes a relay team as well.
 
Senior Parley Hannan is the top seed in both the 3,000-meter run and the 5,000-meter run. In the 3K, Hannan leads the field of competitors with a time of 9:36.23, a time she set at the Liberty League Indoor Championships on Feb. 28.
 
Hannan will also lead the field in the 5K with her time of 16:05.36, which she ran at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Feb. 14. The time set a school and Division III record and she leads the field by 42.52 seconds.
 
Hannan will also be in Ithaca's first-ranked distance medley relay team, which has a school-record time of 11:41.19. The relay team, which consists of seniors Maggie Nickerson, Lindsay Scott and Hannan, as well as sophomore Katelyn Hutchison, set its qualifying time at the 2020 BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Feb. 15.
 
Sophomore Meghan Matheny is currently seeded second in the pole vault with a mark of 3.92 meters (12 feet, 10.25 inches). Matheny achieved that qualifying time at the All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Championships on March 6. This is the second consecutive indoor season Matheny has qualified for Nationals.
 
Also seeded second is Hutchison in the 400-meter run with a time of 56.30 seconds. Her school-record time was run at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Feb. 14.
 
Freshman Tia Jones qualified for two events at the Indoor Championships. In the 200-meter dash, she is seeded third with a time of 25.19 seconds, which she achieved at the Liberty League Indoor Championships on Feb. 28. Jones is seeded fifth in the 60-meter dash with a school-record time of 7.63 seconds which she ran at the Greg Page Relays on Dec. 7.
 
In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Samara Herzog is seeded 10th with a time of 8.83 seconds. She ran the qualifying time and school record at the Liberty League Indoor Championships on Feb. 28.
 
Making her way back to nationals is sophomore Logan Bruce, who will once again compete in the pentathlon. She is seeded 12th with a total of 3393 points, which she earned by winning the 60-meter hurdles, the high jump and the long jump at the Bomber Invitational on Feb 1.
 
Senior Sarah Rudge qualified in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.90. Rudge, who is seeded 13th in the event, qualified for the event at the Liberty League Indoor Championships on Feb. 28. This is Rudge's second consecutive season attending Nationals.
 
Rounding out the Bombers at nationals is first-year Martha Kemp-Neilson. She qualified in the pole vault and will be seeded 19th with a mark of 3.65 meters which she achieved at the AARTFC Indoor Championships on March 6.
 
On the men's side, sophomore Kasim Cisse is seeded second in the high jump with a mark of 2.11 meters (6 feet, 11 inches). Cisse jumped the qualifying mark at the Marc Deneault Invitational on Feb. 20.
 
Sophomore Dom Mikula will be returning to nationals in the pole vault, where he is seeded fourth with a school-record mark of 5.00 meters (16 feet, 4.75 inches). He earned the qualifying height at the Bomber Invitational on Feb. 1. This is the third time in Mikula's IC career that he will attend Nationals.
 
Sophomore Luke Tobia rounds out the Bombers attending nationals as he is seeded eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 18.50 meters (60 feet, 8.5 inches). He qualified with that school-record mark at the AARTFC Championships on March 6.
 
This is the highest number of student-athletes that Ithaca has ever sent to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
