ITHACA, N.Y. -- The baseball team improved to 11-7 with a 9-1 victory over Oswego (7-6) Wednesday at Freeman Field. Sophomore Adam Brown (Greece Athena/Rochester) improved to 3-2 by pitching eight innings, striking out five batters and allowing only one run.
Junior designated hitter Shane Wolf (Lansing/Freeville) went 3-for-4 and scored in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by sophomore third baseman Dylan Perez (Conval Regional [Conn.]/Peterborough, N.H. ). Wolf also crossed home plate in the fifth when sophomore shortstop Kurt Bednarcyk (Fairport/Fairport), who went 2-for-6, singled through the left side. Wolf had reached base by hitting his team-high fifth double.
Three other Bombers had multi-hit games including junior second baseman Todd Czerno (Columbia/Brainard), senior first baseman Jason Friedman (Whitney Young/Chicago, Ill.) and junior right fielder Eric Ferguson (Columbia/East Greenbush). Ferguson and Friedman each went 2-for-4 and recorded RBIs in the third inning. Friedman singled through the left side to score junior leftfielder Jeremy Peters (Thomas R. Proctor/Utica) and Ferguson singled to shortstop to score junior catcher Rob Raux (Ilion/Frankfort). Peters went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. He singled to center field in the fifth to drive in sophomore Alan Kartholl (John Jay/Fishkill) and Czerno, who went 2-for-5. Raux finished 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI. He is second on the team with four doubles.
The Bombers travel to Manhattanville Friday for a doubleheader at 1p.m.
