The first three-time All-American football player at Ithaca, Bill Sheerin '84 was rated by the New York Times in 1984 as the second-best nose guard in the nation (all divisions). He was a three-time Independent College Athletic Conference all-star and shared conference player of the year honors in 1983. As a senior, he led the Bombers to a 10-1 record and the 1984 ECAC title. Sheerin recorded career totals of 299 tackles and 27 sacks while becoming one of the first Bomber football players to earn four letters. According to then football coach Jim Butterfield, he was "as good a defensive lineman as we've ever had."Sheerin owns Ithaca Development in Boulder, Colorado. He is a second-degree black belt in karate and a two-time national karate champion.
