Tom Nugent '36 was a four-sport man at Ithaca, earning three letters in football and track and one each in basketball and baseball. He gave Florida State University its first national prominence in football before assuming the head coaching job at the University of Maryland. Nugent is the inventor of the now famous "I formation" and also became a member of the ABC College Football Broadcasting Team.
