Steve Bell was a four-year member of the men's soccer program that posted an overall record of 47-14-9 from 2002-05, and reached the NCAA Division III Tournament in the '02 season. He was a two-time all-Empire 8 performer as a back and was also selected as an NSCAA All-Northeast Region player as a senior. He did all of this while battling through Cystic Fibrosis – a disease that severely damages the lungs and digestive system.
Since graduating from IC, Bell has become the face of and spokesperson for the fight against Cystic Fibrosis. He has been featured in numerous written publications throughout the years, as well as on CBS Saturday Morning and a Dick's Sporting Goods commercial.
Bell has competed in eight marathons since 2008, finishing in under four hours six different times, and also ran in 15 half-marathons during that same time.
Bell has helped raise more than $125,000 towards Cystic Fibrosis research and has worked alongside of former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason to help people in the Cystic Fibrosis community through the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
