Stephen Klingman started for the men's soccer program from sophomore through senior seasons (‘69, ‘70, ‘71). As a sophomore, sophomore Klingman played midfield, while his junior and senior years at center back. Klingman was selected First-Team All I.C.A.C. (Independent College Athletic Conference) as a junior and senior and selected All New York State Team (Division 1 – no Division 3 at that time) as a senior.  He served as captain for the Bombers his final two years and graduated with a B.S. in Physical Education in May 1972 and returned as an assistant coach, while working toward a Masters in P.E. in the fall of ’72.
 
Upon graduation Klingman worked at the University of Scranton since the fall of 1972. He served as men’s soccer coach for 22 seasons (1973-96), Associate Athletic Director for over 15 years and retired as a Physical Education/Exercise Science faculty member for 45 years.
 
During his time as coach at Scranton, Klingman compiled an overall record of 324-116-23 record, which included two NCAA Division III National Championship appearances (1980 & 1981),  two NCAA third place national finishes (1982 & 1983) and three NCAA quarterfinal appearances (1977, ‘78, ’79). Scranton made 13 trips to the NCAA Tournament, to go along with eight Middle Atlantic Conference champions and 21 consecutive seasons with a winning record. Klingman coached 10 NSCAA Division III All-Americans, 29 NSCAA All-Region and 54 All-Middle Atlantic Conference selections during his time at Scranton.
